My cravings

Its actually a torture to go back to work today. After a long festive vacation from work ( 9 days to be exact), I get to travel to different spots and have a variety of gastonomical delights ... but here I am today, stuck back in my office at Phileo Damansara 1 with only a handful of places to eat ...

and in Phileo, I guess its eating to live ... not living to eat.
I skipped lunch (as my biological clock it messed up & still on holiday timing) and I'm craving for something to eat now .... here's my wish list:

1) Fried Singapore Mee hoon from Ming Tien, Tmn Megah PJ
2) Fish head mee hoon from Tmn Connaught
3) Chee cheong fun with lots of foo chuk from a bike outside YMCA KL
4) Chicken nuggets from Wendy's
5) Okonomiyaki from Umai-ya, Damansara Uptown
6) Chicken rendang from Selva's corner, Brickfields
7) Nasi Kandar with sambal egg from a little lorong near Lebuh Ampang
8) Lotus paste pau with egg yolk from Foh San, Ipoh
9) Tau fu fah from a stall outside PJ Uniform SS2
10) Mee Pok from somewhere in JB opposite a Chinese Assoc

Waffle World @ One Utama

I've been craving for it for ages ... its almost like being addicted to it. And no other dishes or other varieties can ever supplement it. And today ... I finally got my cravings satisfied. After much postponements of trips, I finally made it to Waffle World in One Utama.

I need my fix of waffles!! And just opening the menu makes y
our mouth water ... oh the variety! They have grilled fish, foot long sausages and carbonara pasta just to name a few to cry out for!! But I must stay focused! The other varieties shall be in my to do list!!

And without hesitating, I ordered my Chocolate waffle topped with vanila ice- cream. Warm on the inside and when served with the cold ice- cream, the sensation in your mouth is to die for. The thick chocolate batter is so rich that it gives a slight bitter taste ... the waffle is sprinkled with choc fudge ....and the verdict? Bitter sweet .... need I say more? Just bite into it and you have enjoy the crunchy crust and soft insides.

At only RM 6.90, I am a total chocolate-waffle-a-holic. Just look at this mouth watering waffle.

And all the other varieties of waffles are going at the same price too. There is banana, classic, blueberry and many more. Here is another of the best sellers!! Almond Waffles ...
Nyum nyum ... Waffle World, ... here I come again!

Its a fish ball ... no, its a rice ball!

It's December, with loads of holidays and lots of time to kill, roads trips are a definite must. And roadtrips have to have food involved ...

Took a trip down to Malacca ... the historical town
of Malaysia. It feels awesome just being a tourist in your own country. There is so much to explore, so much to see, enjoy and experience. I love the heritage sights .. and if you know Malaysian history well, you'll enjoy it even more. Sad to say, those spots have now been commercialized and there are dozens of peddlers there...

Enough about that ... what's a trip to Melaka without Chicken Rice Balls? Perhaps I didn't know where to go .. but for the place I went to, deco was awesome ... in fact they decorated it to be more like a museum than a restaurant. Honestly, the chicken was pretty much tasteless, the taugeh was a wee bit too salty and the herbal tea tasted like iced syrup.

What is this doing in a chicken rice shop?

The only thing to shout about must be the rice ball itself. Unique in its own right, I don't think it can be found anywhere else in Malaysia, or perhaps the world! The rice ball has its own flavor ... good enough to eat as a snack alone. There is a tinge of ginger and margarine in it ... ooh! The fragrance!! Food can indeed become art.

Bubba Gump @ Curve, PJ

If you want a great dinner with friends and want a place where you can snap pictures non-stop .. Bubba Gump at the Curve is the place that I would recommend. Especially if you are a fan of Forest Gump, a trip to that restaurant makes you want to talk non- stop about its decor. Set in a sort of wooden cottage feel, the posters and wooden plaques and ornaments just make you feel that you are on the set itself. And, its one of the few places I know that has its own souvenior shop .... 'Momma always says that I'm special'

I went there last week for an early office Christmas lunch. With great company, great food and lots of photo taking opportunity, this is definitely a place high on my recomended list.

That's Shrimp Po' Boy. Juicy and succulent shrimp ... crispy on the outside and crunchy inside. Not to worry, it is laid on waxed fake newspaper ... not the real deal .. but it makes it look so ... country!
Shrimper's heaven. For all you shrimp lovers ... you'll be spoilt for choice. You might even wish for a free flow of shrimp. But save some space for the varieties ... there is Tempura shrimp, Fried Shrimp, Coconut shrimp, Chilly shrimp and fries!

Dumb luck coconut shrimp. Well,... you're not dumb at all to have ordered this. Who would have thought of this combination? Sweet yet salty at the same time, it satisfies your every craving.

Bourbon Street Barumundi. A great serving of mashed potatoes, with the skin .. yum! And the fish fillet is so fresh and tender. And the prawns ... so sweet ... dipped with the savoury gravy. A must try!!

Not all of it is about food and photography ... but fun too. The friendly staff there knew it was a celebration, and they offered us a free dessert. But we had to work for it!! Of course, the youngest of us all became the victim. Up on the chair !!! And with a group of Bubba's staff, about 8 of them they clapped and rapped out a tune!! 'If you want this birthday cake ... let me see you booty shake ... shake that booty ... shake shake that booty'. hahaha ..... lovely memories.

So drop by Bubba Gump's at the Curve, PJ and let me know what you think!
